Almost done with the princess. Tomorrow I’m going to put together the final picture with all the steps, and maybe do another design of her clothes from another part of the story
My African Princess.
This would be so cool. Disney please I’m waiting. There are so many story plots they could come up with, so many out of this world songs, even her friends and family. Love Tiana to bits but I am still waiting for a true African princess who would rep either North,South, West, East, Central Africa idc lol make it happen x
Black women have no real fairy tales. No one sweeps us off our (tired) feet in the movies. There is no sparkle and glitter, there is no black Prince Charming. I don’t care how sexist traditional fairy tales are, I want my daughter to be able to imagine something absolutely incredible and extraordinary happening to her without having to work for it, and yes, for people to comment on how unbelievably gorgeous she is, and yes, for her to feel like one day she will be desired, and that her physical beauty will be part of the reason she is desired. We’ll work on the feminism after she feels like a fuckin’ princess.
Black women: you know it would be great if we had more fantasy and adventure stories with black girls as a princess and main character
White women: Oh shit I have idea please stop me if I say something wrong uwu
Black women: well um….we sorta already-
White women: Okay so like what about this African princess who’s super pretty and a secret badass but still a princess……
Black women: huh, doesnt sound too bad!
White women: Yeah! And her parents get kidnapped by American slavers and sent to America to be slaves and now she has to leave home and rescue them
Black women: …..
White women: oh but like since she’s black she’ll of course have to dress as a slave, play the part perfectly, and ride on a slave ship to get there. But when she gets her parents back they’re way too old and weak thanks to slavery and vamt rule so she’s automatically a Queen now cause fuck princesses am I right sistas?
Black women: That is a horrible idea and the opposite of what we want
White women: LISTEN HERE COONTANG I’VE TRIED MY HARDEST TO BE AN ALLY FOR THE BLACKS AND SPENT SO MUCH TIME COMING UP WITH THIS INCLUSIVE STORY AND YOU JUST SHUT ALL OVER IT???? WOW DIDNT KNOW BLACKS WERE SO UNREASONABLE BE HAPPY THEY DONT STAY SLAVES
Fun fact, hammering metal spikes into tree trunks is a federal crime in the US because environmental activists used to do it in the 80s to fuck up chainsaws and logging equipment.
So you should never use this effective strategy for disrupting logging operations because it is illegal.
hey guys! a lot of our followers have been reblogging this post telling us that doing this will harm workers and trees! i understand your concern, and i even get why you believe that. the thing is, you don’t spike every tree in a forest and then walk away. you spike a few of the trees that are slated to be cut down, then you put up a sign or send an email telling the loggers that some of the trees in this area have been spiked
spiking a tree has a small chance to cause an infection in the tree. but cutting a tree down has a Huge chance of killing the tree, and they cut down a lot of trees
this has also never harmed workers. iirc, there was one example of a logger getting hit with a chainsaw chain, but it was disputed as to whether or not the tree had been spiked. in reality, it only harms their equipment, making it very expensive to cut down any of the trees in the area, just in case
many of us believe these things, because the logging industry dumped tons of money into propaganda to stop us from protesting their actions, either by convincing us that what they’re doing is good, or by convincing us that what we’re doing is worse
so remember, do your own research, punch nazis, and buy recycled paper

as someone who has just taken an environmental ethics class at my university i can tell you there’s a lot of misinformation in this post.
first all all, tree spiking has not actually successfully stopped trees from being logged. in almost every case, the spikes are removed, the trees are cut down, and consumer costs are raised to pay for the price of removing the spikes. any spikes missed will go through the logging mill, breaking the equipment and harming the low-level workers. the prior claim that no worker has been injured by tree spikes is frankly incorrect, as i can recall at least two different articles we read in class where workers were injured (george alexander (1987) is one, from the article “the secret history of tree spiking” bari)
in the few instances when tree spiking was used and the trees were not cut down, other forms of activism (usually protest or getting legislation signed to protect the specific forest/area) were also in place. essentially, tree spiking alone has never prevented trees from being logged, while it has harmed loggers who work in some of the most dangerous positions and do not have many other options for work around them- while also not harming the companies responsible for the environmental damages. tree spiking has also harmed the environmental movement by the surplus of bad representation to the movement that came out of tree spiking. many activist had to spend a lot of their time and efforts on distancing themselves from tree spikes instead of on their actual goals. tree spikes were even seen as terroist to some.
i am not against radical (or even illegal) environmental actions, but tree spiking as one of those actions is simply ineffective. please feel free to do your own research on this, but remember to look at all sides of an issue. when tree spiking was first proposed and used, i do not think it in inself was a bad action, but the fact that it’s been proven to be ineffective to the movement justifies criticism, and i’m highly skeptical that it would be effective if it were to be used again.
also if you want the pdfs to any of the articles i read in class that i’m referencing, i can most likely send them to you, just dm me.
